19th Annual Women’s Retreat FAQs
I noticed this retreat is sponsored by the Universal Life Church. Is this going to be like church camp? Do you have a religious affiliation or agenda? ULC is non-religious, non-sectarian, and non-political. It is our non-profit organization. Donations may be tax deductible.
Where is Idyllwild? Idyllwild is nestled in the San Jacinto mountains about two hours from either San Diego or Los Angeles. Set among tall pines, sweet smelling cedars and legendary rocks, the town has kept its "small town" atmosphere. Locally owned shops and restaurants are all you will find here. For security reasons, we only give out the location of the Retreat Center to registered guests. We’ll also provide directions to the site. See it on a map.
Will there be carpooling? We encourage carpooling and will send registrants a phone list by zip code to allow women to contact others in their area.
What can I expect for weather? The days should be warm with an afternoon breeze. Evenings should be cool and perfect for sleeping.
When should I arrive? There will be less traffic if you leave so that you arrive around 4 PM. If you arrive before that, enjoy the mountain resort of Idyllwild.
What is the schedule? Registration begins at 4 on Friday. Opening Circle at 6. Dinner in the evening followed by a gathering where the teachers will introduce themselves and the workshops they’ll offer, followed by a welcoming dance. Saturday after breakfast there will be three workshop sessions, with several workshops offered at each session. Saturday afternoon will be the herbal spa time and in the evening is the talent show. All are welcome to participate. Sunday morning will be two more workshop sessions and the barter faire. Closing Circle Sunday Afternoon. Plan to leave early-mid afternoon. We’ll have more exact times soon.
Do I have to take the workshops? You need to attend the opening and closing circles. The rest is up to you. You can hike, rest, read, or whatever your heart desires. If you check out the wonderful workshops offered, you’ll probably want to check some out. What women have shared in the past is that the hardest thing at the retreat is choosing between all the great workshops.
Should I bring a swim suit? Swim suits are required at the pool.
What are the housing options? All rooms have single or bunk beds.
A-Frames and cabin rooms have four bunk beds, sleeping eight.
Well ventilated cabin tents have a raised wooden floor and are perfect for the outdoor enthusiast who enjoys a comfortable bed off the ground. They have four single beds and two bunk beds, sleeping eight.
For those who prefer the privacy of their own tent, camping is permitted. Bring your own gear.
A limited number of RV spaces are also available.
The fee is the same for all housing options. No bedding is provided so you will have to bring sheets, blankets and pillows.
I want to attend with friends. Can we be put in the same room? Just specify a group or individual you wish to bunk with.
I am attending by myself and won’t know anyone. This will be the case for a number of women. The warm and welcoming environment encourages meeting new friends.
I have a question not covered here. Please call with any questions or special circumstances you wish to address. 619 224 1268.
